Mr. Joseph Rawson

Mr. Joe Rawson, age 87, a resident of Morton, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Brandon Nursing and Rehab.  Visitation will be held 9:30am-1:00 pm Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.  Funeral services will be held 1pm Tuesday from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton.  Burial will be at Morton Memorial Gardens with Bro. Claude Shufelt officiating.  Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Mr. Rawson was born in Thomastown, MS on February 19, 1934.  Joe loved being outdoors and when he was able, he loved to go hunting, fishing and work a garden.  He loved the Lord and when his eyesight let him, he would read his Bible, or he had it where he could listen to it also.  His family stated, “Everynight before he went to bed you could hear him singing Christian songs and his favorite was,  At the Cross.”  Mr. Rawson loved his family and grandchildren and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Rawson; parents, Lee Rawson and Rosie Elizabeth Allen Rawson; 2 children, Bobby Rawson and Marilyn Evans; siblings, Frances Carroll, Nadine Carpenter, Shirley Davis, Mary Helen Brown, Billy Rawson and Raymond Rawson; son-in-law, Rodney Evans.

He is survived by his children, Jimmy Rawson of Morton, Cynthia Jolly and husband, Timmy of Morton and Shirley Freeny and husband, Joey of Carthage; sister, Vera George (Jerry) of Forkville; 9 grandchildren, Nancy Adcox Massey (Brian), Joseph Evans, Eric Evans (Cheri), Becky Craft (Jeffery), Kristin Phillips (Josh), Matthew Jolly, Amber Warren (Bobby), Brandon Hall (Samantha) and Hannah Jolly; 19 great grandchildren; special friend, Sherry Bradford; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Matt Jolly, Brandon Hall, Braxton Adcox, Connor Grindstaff, Ronnie Carpenter and Frankie Lenard.  Honorary pallbearers will be all great grandchildren.
