Mildred Anne Moorehead Lewis was born on November 25, 1934, in Corinth, Mississippi. She passed away on May 22, 2026, in Brandon, Mississippi. Mildred lived a full and meaningful life, embraced by her family and marked by her many interests and passions.

Mildred was a dedicated worker who retired from the State of Mississippi. She also spent over 27 years volunteering at Merit Health River Oaks, showing her caring nature and commitment to helping others. Her love for animals was clear throughout her life, and she took great joy in caring for all creatures. Music was another important part of her life, especially Christian choir music. She enjoyed studying the Bible deeply, playing bridge with her club, and in recent years, found fun in playing bingo.

Education played an important role in Mildred's early years. She graduated from Corinth High School, where she earned the title of Miss Hospitality of Corinth. She continued her education at Mississippi State University, where she was a cheerleader and a huge fan of MSU sports. During her time there, she was honored as a freshman homecoming maid, an accomplishment that highlighted her involvement and spirit.

Mildred shared a lasting and loving partnership with her husband of 64 years, Walter Ned Lewis. They were married in June 1958, and together they traveled extensively. They visited all 50 states, often returning to some states multiple times, and also traveled abroad several times, creating many cherished memories along the way.

She was a devoted member of Pinelake Church, where she found community and strength in her faith.

Mildred is survived by her loving daughters Laurie Lewis and Jolynn Lewis, and her beloved cat, Tommy, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Ned Lewis on October 27, 2022, her brother Joseph Benson Moorehead, Jr., her father Joseph Benson Moorehead, Sr., and her mother Mildred Smith Moorehead.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Castlewood Place and her dedicated caregiver Shlonda Wilson, who provided much-needed care, support, and companionship.

Mildred Anne Lewis will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her love for her family, and her kind heart. Her life touched many, and her memory will be cherished by those who knew her.
