Mildred Irene Jenkins, age 89 and a longtime resident of Jackson died Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, surrounded by her family, following an extended illness.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11am Friday, August 23, 2019, from the Damascus Cemetery. Charles R. Jenkins will officiate. Family and friends will gather at the cemetery at 10:30am prior to the graveside service.
Mrs, Jenkins was born on Friday, April 18, 1930, in Scott County to her parents, Lee Wolverton and Myrtle Harrelson Wolverton. She grew up in Scott County and later married Charles R . Jenkins. She graduated from Fondren Cosmetology School. She became a self-employed business owner where she operated a Beauty Shop for many years. They lived in Jackson where she was a member of Faithway Baptist Church. She loved her family, visiting with friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Charles R. Jenkins, two sons; Charles R. Jenkins of Lenoir City, TN and Don Jenkins of Terry, MS. She is also survived by two sisters: Ava King of Florence, MS, Virginia Copeland (Dean) of Marietta, GA. She also leaves behind a legacy of three grandchildren: Tayler Jenkins, Danee Walters, Sharee McDonald and, four great-grandchildren: Jayla, Ella, Andrew and, Jonathan.
