Michael Howard Noel (Mike)

Michael Howard Noel, 71, of the Lillian community of Scott County, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 25, 2022. Visitation will be from 1 – 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 27, with service following at 3 p.m. at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest, Mississippi. Graveside services will be held at the Harperville Cemetery.

Michael “Mike” Noel was born July 8, 1950, to the late Marion and Nadine Noel.  On May 4, 1974, he married Janice Gatewood Noel. They were happily married until his death.  He was a member of the Hillsboro United Methodist Church.  He proudly served in the United States Army National Guard for twenty-eight years, retiring as a Sergeant First Class. Mike loved trucking, farming, and agricultural aviation.  He was the owner of MHN Trucking; co-owner of Noel Farms; and worked many years for Thrash Aviation, fertilizing timber throughout the southeastern United States until his recent retirement.

Michael is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janice Gatewood Noel; two daughters, Julie Crain (Joey), Amy Kitchens (Ron); Seven Grandchildren, Ethan, Candice, Andrew, Anna Crain, and John Clayton, Joy, Jacob Kitchens.  He is survived by one brother, Charles Noel (Becky). He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Nadine Noel.

Serving as pallbearers will be John Elliot Jolley, Michael Bilbro, Verner Ray Gatewood, Charlie Noel, Ethan Crain, Joey Crain, Ed Webster, and Ron Kitchens.
