Melissa went home to be with Jesus on April 28, 2023, and is enjoying the serenity of heaven. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS, with visitation starting at 11:30 am. Graveside services to follow at Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeland, MS.

From Brandon, Mississippi where she lived most of her life, she followed one of her lifelong passions of horses to Wyoming. Her special connections to horses always gave her great comfort and insights to life. Melissa’s artistic talent and entrepreneurial spirit was shared with many by styling people to look and feel their best.

Melissa is survived by her parents Robert Lowrey Mailly and Patricia Mailly Rooney, sister Kathryn Michelle Fontaine (Tony) of Hattiesburg MS, sister Madilyn Kristine Mailly of Ridgeland MS, brother Paul Hebert Sewall IV, (Jessi) of Abbeville LA and grandfather Gerald R Rooney of Pass Christian MS. She was proceeded in passing by her maternal grandmother, Shirley White Rooney of Lafayette, LA and her paternal grandparents, Eugene Robert Mailly and Marguerite Greene Mailly of Sumner, MS.

Remembering her as Melissa, Melly, or Savannah Jane (SJ), she will be forever in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Wingard Home Ministry in Jackson, MS or Horse Warriors™ in Wyoming where Melissa made a recent great connection with Nubbin.
