Marion Joseph "Joe" Thompson

Joe Thompson, age 65, a resident of Morton passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at his home in Morton.  Visitation will be held 5pm-8pm Friday, February 17, 2023 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and Saturday from 10am-10:45am at the funeral home.  Chapel services will be held 11am Saturday, February 18, 2023 in the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Sardis Baptist Cemetery.  Bro. Bill Prestage will officiate the services.  Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Mr. Thompson was born in Smith County on April 15, 1957.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching drag racing.  His fur baby, Bella was his heart.  Joe loved being with friends and family and talking about the past.  He loved watching the History Channel.  Joe will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Smith Thompson; parents, Chester Lee Thompson and Carolyn Ann Smith Thompson; sister, Jennie Duvall.

He is survived by his children, Guss Thompson (Carlie) of Raleigh and Gracie Adcock (Austin) of White Oak; siblings, Terry Thompson of Morton, Sandy Taylor (Scotty) of Morton and Roy Lee Thompson (Stacey) of Indiana; 2 grandchildren, Ella Grace Adcock and James Adcock; and a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be Matt Stokes, Guss Thompson, Austin Adcock, Gary Hines, Scott Hines and Allan Eason.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cal Laseter, Carl Ellis Harris, Bo Pilgrim, Dan Yates and Larry Boone.

Memorials may be made in his honor to Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
