LUCILE WHITLEY SHIVERS

PELAHATCHIE

Mrs. Lucile Whitley Shivers, age 93, a resident of Pelahatchie went to be with her heavenly father at her residence on July 22, 2010. Visitation was held 5-8pm Saturday, July 24th at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and resumed on Sunday from 8am until 2:30pm at the funeral home. Funeral services were held 3pm Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Pelahatchie Baptist Church with burial in Pelahatchie City Cemetery. Bro. Barry Corbett and Bro. Guy Hughes officiated the services. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton was is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Shivers was a lifetime resident of Rankin County. She loved making cakes, pies and jellies and loved giving it to her friends and family. Lucile was dedicated to her church and taught Preschool Sunday School at Pelahatchie Baptist Church for over 30 years. She is a retired business owner of Shivers Grocery, which she operated for 30 years. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

Preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Shivers and parents, Mack Whitley and Lula Smith Whitley.

Survivors include her 4 children, Jackie Shivers (Robin), Evelyn Pennington (Eugene), Betty Taylor (Lacy) and Johnnie Taylor (Graham) all of Pelahatchie; 2 sisters, Malora Crowe and Edith Minnis; 9 grandchildren, Rhonda Mangum, Trent Taylor, Ronnie Taylor, Russ Taylor, Regie Pennington, Ty Pennington, Shannon Shivers, Justin Shivers and Jeremy Shivers; 12 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Pallbearers were Tony Shoemaker, Ronnie Pennington, Dave Boyce, Dan Boyce, Doug Payne and Fred Dunlap. Honorary pallbearers were Irl Dean Rhodes, Waymon Tigert, Harry Holmes, Robert Spears, Clark Mashburn, L.C. Rhodes, Wayne Townsend, Cecil Payne (deceased) and Durwood Gray (deceased).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Pelahatchie Baptist Building Fund and Crossroads Baptist Building Fund.
