Richland

Louise Neely, age 97 of Richland, affectionately known as GiGi, passed away on October 26, 2023, in Jackson, Mississippi. She was born on May 26, 1926, in Hinds County, Mississippi. Throughout her life, Louise had a deep love for her community and a passion for helping others.

Louise's proudest accomplishments were her dedicated work with AARP in Richland, where she provided invaluable assistance to those in need. Her caring nature and selflessness brought comfort to many individuals during challenging times. Additionally, Louise was a devoted member of Eastern Star for an impressive span of 50 years.

Fond memories of Louise will forever be cherished by her surviving family and friends. Barbara Welch, her loving daughter, will hold dear the moments they shared together. Martha Neely, daughter-in-law to Louise, will forever remember the bond they shared. In addition to her family members, Louise leaves behind a legacy carried on by her great-grandchildren: Neely Penn, Breanna Doughty, Kamryn Bright, and Nathan Steele. Their lives were enriched through the love and guidance GiGi provided. To continue this beautiful thread of connection to the future generation is Zayden Doughty, Louise's great-great-grandson. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Joe Robert Frazier and Linnie Boykin Frazier, husband Joe Neely, Jr., son Harry C. Neely, granddaughters Misty Gardner and Tara Doughty, son-in-law Charles Welch, and eight siblings.

Outside of her notable accomplishments and connections with loved ones, Louise found joy in various hobbies and interests. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Richland and found solace in the church community. Working in her yard brought her immense pleasure as she witnessed beauty blossom under her care. Louise also derived satisfaction from cooking delicious meals.

Other moments that brought happiness into Louise's life were simple yet deeply gratifying riding in the car allowed her to explore the world outside while finding peace within herself; having her hair fixed made her feel beautiful inside and out; getting her nails manicured added a touch of elegance to her day.
