Leo Thomas Landry Jr.

Leo Thomas Landry, Jr., age 86, passed away on November 16, 2023, in Flowood, MS. On Saturday, November 18, 2023, a visitation and memorial service will be held at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a memorial service lead by Leo’s nephew, Reverend Gary Hanberry, to follow at noon.

Leo was born on February 21, 1937, in Vidalia, LA to Virginia and Thomas Leo Landry. After graduating from Vidalia High school, where he played as the school’s first quarterback, he attended Louisiana Tech. There he met and fell in love with Barbara Anne Birdwell. They married on August 19, 1961, in Haynesville, LA and spent 59 years together.

Leo moved his family to Brandon, MS, in 1969, where he lived for over 50 years. There he worked as a salesman for International Paper Company until he started Creative Packaging, the business he would own and operate with his family for the remainder of his career.

In retirement, he enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with Barbara, doing various projects, and supporting his seven grandchildren in all their endeavors. His final months were filled with new friends and activities at Cooperwood Senior Living. His family extends a special thanks to the staff at Cooperwood for the amazing care they provided. Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia Lott Landry and Thomas Leo Landry; his three sisters, Doris Landry Hanberry, Paulene Landry, and Frances Landry Nosser; and his beloved wife, Barbara Birdwell Landry.

He is survived by his son Tommy (Kim) Landry; daughter Ginger (Sal) Lee; brother-in-law Maurice (Lillian) Birdwell; and seven grandchildren, Lexi (Clark) Pitman, Alli (Trace) Lovertich, Layton Landry, Landry Lee, Livi Lee, Sophie Lee, and Sam Lee. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
