Larry Wayne Dotson was born April 15, 1954. His parents were Bill and Faye Dotson. Larry was a lifelong resident of Rankin County. He graduated from Puckett High School and spent his entire life in the Cato and Johns communities. He retired from Shell Oil Company and was a small business owner in the Puckett Community at the time of his death. He had the honor of being the lay leader of Puckett Methodist Church

Larry lived with his wife Frances on their 50-acre farm in the Johns Community. He and Frances enjoyed almost 56 years together. He is also survived by his two sons, Lance Dotson and his wife, Georgia, and Trent Dotson and his wife Adrienne. His five grandchildren include Lauren Pierce and her husband Josh, Gage Dotson, Lainey Dotson, Brycen Bill Dotson, and Anna Collier and her husband, Curtis. His great grandchildren include Addie Pierce, Archie Pierce, Emma Kate Collier, Dixon Collier, Shepard Collier, and Sophie Collier.  He is also survived by his sisters, Jan Thornton, Eva Harris; and brothers, Robby Pettus and Greg Pettus. 

Larry was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. In his last days he was surrounded by his wife and family, to whom he devoted his life.

He will be missed by his family, friends, and church family. May his body rest in peace and his spirit rejoice with the Lord Jesus Christ forever and ever.
