In Loving Memory of Julian Cabera Ramirez

Julian Cabera Ramirez, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love and memories of those whose lives he touched.

Julian was the son of Ruperto and Beatrice Ramirez. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant. During his military career, he was stationed in Panama, where he demonstrated the courage, strength, and commitment that would remain hallmarks of his character throughout his life. He was injured during this service and was told that he would never walk again. He looked the doctor in the eye and said, “Watch me.” He walked out of that hospital to live the life that he wanted.

On July 20, 1985, Julian married the love of his life, Susan Thompson. Together, they built a life centered around family, devotion, and love. They spent 20 years living in Ventura, California, before eventually making their home in Mississippi.

Julian carried his commitment to serving others with him long after his military service ended. Following Hurricane Katrina, he worked as a first responder at a FEMA trailer site in New Orleans, helping keep the peace and providing support during a difficult and uncertain time. His willingness to step forward when others needed help was a reflection of the man he was.

Later in life, Julian found another way to make a difference as a School Supervisor at Morton Middle School, where he worked with children who needed additional structure and guidance. He understood that sometimes the people who need the most patience and encouragement are the ones who need someone to believe in them the most.

Above all else, Julian loved his family fiercely. He never missed an opportunity to be present for birthdays, celebrations, gatherings, and the countless ordinary moments that become the memories we treasure most. His family was at the center of his world, and his presence at family events was never taken for granted. He had a way of making sure the people he loved knew that they mattered.

Julian was the proud father of Julian Patrick Ramirez (wife, Melissa) and Heidi Denise Ramirez. He was also a beloved grandfather to James Paul Truitt (wife, Kayla Dozier Truitt and children, Juliana and Aria), Daniel Thomas Truitt (wife, Jessica Lea Truitt and daughter, Delilah), Hunter Cole Bonge (wife, Irina Bonge), Denver Clayton Cohen, Julian Roy Ramirez (wife, Taylor Ramirez and children, Lilian, Nelly, Preston, and Russell), Jacob Patrick Ramirez (wife, Malorie Ramirez), Schuyler William Schmidt (daughter, Trinity), Chivon Gage (children, Carson Wolff and Ava Rodriguez), Tricia Gage Kent (husband, Joe Kent and children, Jayden, Maddox, Willow, and Isla), and Sean Nevin Gage. His legacy will live on through each of them and through the lessons, stories, laughter, and love he leaves behind.

Outside of work and family, Julian enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved dancing, hunting, and fishing—times when he could enjoy the outdoors, make memories, and simply be himself.

Julian lived a life defined by service, strength, loyalty, and love. He was one of the strongest men this world will ever know. His stubbornness and determination would see him beat cancer four different times. Quit was not in his vocabulary. He pushed everyday of his life with a smile on his face, and laughter in his lungs. The pain he felt would never be shown. He would be the life of the party and would make friends with anyone that he would talk to.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Though Julian is no longer with us, the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the memories he created will remain with us always.

Rest peacefully, Julian. Your service is complete, but your legacy lives on.
