Mrs. Marion Joyce Latham, 88, of Forest, passed away on Wednesday, April 8th at Baptist Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be held at Ott and Lee Funeral Home of Forest on Friday, April 10 from 5-7pm, and again on Saturday from 1-2pm. The funeral service will be officiated by Bro. Chris Harrison at 2pm on Saturday at Ott and Lee. Burial will take place at Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery.
Joyce was born on April 4, 1938, to Carnathan and Maggie Lee Driskell in Scott County. She was a longtime member of Ephesus Baptist Church, where she was part of the Homemaker’s Club and the Golden Girls Coffee Club. She valued the friendships she made there and the time she spent with her church family.
She worked alongside her husband Harmon at their store, Latham’s Grocery, where she enjoyed serving her community and getting to know the people who came through the store.
Joyce enjoyed many hobbies, especially needlepoint and crocheting. She spent countless hours making a beautiful bedspread for her daughter, Wanda, which remains a special keepsake.
She loved camping with her family and friends, especially at the Neshoba County Fair. She also enjoyed working in her yard and spending time at home.
Joyce loved her family deeply. She was always happy to keep her grandchildren and great grandchildren and took pride in caring for them.
She was known for her cooking, especially her ham and egg pie and her Thanksgiving dressing, which her family will always remember.
Joyce also loved her dogs, Dee Dee and Pippy, who were an important part of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Carnathan Driskell and Maggie Lee Underwood Driskell, and her husband, Harmon Latham.
She leaves behind a legacy of her two children, Terry Latham (Rose Mary), and Wanda Latham Harrison (Tommy); two granddaughters, Mandy Holcomb and Michelle Rushing; and great grandchildren, Austin, Tyler, Taylor, Maddy and Jase.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Taylor, Tyler, and Austin Coward, and Jason Harrison. Jase Ogletree will be an honorary pallbearer.
She will be remembered for the life she shared with her family, her faith, and the time she gave to others.
