Joseph Rhodes Thweatt

Joseph Rhodes Thweatt, 78, passed away on Mon. Aug. 4, 2025, in Vidalia, LA. Visitation was held on Fri. Aug 15, 2025, from 5pm-7pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. A funeral mass will be held at 10am on Mon. Sept. 1, 2025 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Brandon, MS with visitation at the church from 9:30am until the service time. 

Mr. Thweatt was born in Memphis, TN on Aug. 3, 1947, to the late Jack Stephens Thweatt and Mary Susan Rhodes Thweatt.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Cahill Thweatt; three children, Jennifer Thweatt Maxwell (Gregg), Allison Thweatt, John Thweatt (Elizabeth) and three granddaughters, Victoria Maxwell, Olivia Thweatt and Ava Kate Thweatt. Mr. Thweatt is also preceded in death by his daughter, Ashley Claire Thweatt.

Joe was a beloved son, husband, father and grandfather. Always dedicated to his family, valued friends, and the businesses he founded.

In 1980, he began the business forms company Creative Systems Consultants, Inc. Additionally founding Discount Gun Safe in 1999 and locally known as, “Security Joe”. It was his joy and passion to work with his staff, serving the community and giving quality service to all his customers. His sense of humor, good nature and attention to detail was his hallmark.

At home he cherished time spent with family. Celebrating events and holidays, as well as his loving support in attendance at school programs, sporting events and related activities of his grandchildren warmed his heart.

His greatest pleasure was seeing his building projects come to fruition for the comfort of family life. Other interests included hunting, fishing and occasionally gardening.

He will be greatly missed by all his family, valued friends and business associates.

Joe was a communicant of St. Paul Catholic Church in Flowood, MS since 1991. There his funeral services will be held at a future date to be announced.
