Joseph Burnley

March 16, 1945 — March 24, 2022

Brandon, MS

Wayne Burnley, aged 77 of Brandon, Mississippi, peacefully left this life and entered into the arms of Jesus on March 24, 2022. Born March 16, 1945, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, he was the ninth child of Willie and Ora Mae (Casey) Burnley. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jack Burnley, O.T. Burnley, James Burnley, Bill Burnley, David Burnley, and Charles Burnley; his sisters Mary Ella “Sug” Epps and Edna Darnell; and one beloved grandson, Greg Kline.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Jackie Burnley of Brandon; his children Katrina (Burnley) Keiffer and Eric Burnley from his first marriage; Mary Huard, and Rachel Hodges; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and other relatives, and a multitude of friends.

Mr. Burnley graduated from Neeleyville High School, Neeleyville, Missouri, in 1962 and earned an associate’s degree from School of the Ozarks, subsequently attending the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.  He was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the United States Army, 25th Infantry Division in 1968.  Mr. Burnley had a lengthy career, primarily at Precoat Metals based in St. Louis where he worked his way up to serve as superintendent of plant maintenance.  He also served as an elder in the Presbyterian Church of Cedar Hill, Missouri; was a Cub Scout Pack leader; and was a past member and officer of the Masonic Lodge #545 of Piggott, Arkansas.

Mr. Burnley had a generous spirit, helping countless people in any way he could.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, collecting clocks and watches, gaming, telling funny stories and jokes, and his dog BowWow.  He loved sitting out on his patio and soaking up the Mississippi sunshine.

Visitation will be held on Sun. March 27, 2022 from 5pm-7pm and on Mon. March 28, 2022 from 9am-9:45am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 10am on Mon. March 28, 2022 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS with interment to follow in the Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon, MS.
