Jonnelle Spann "Jonnie" Norton, 79, a lifetime resident of Rankin County, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, at her home in Flowood, MS. Visitation will be 9-11am Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, Graveside services will follow at 11:30am at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS.
Mrs. Norton was born on May 19,1946, at the old Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS. She graduated from Brandon High School in 1964 and attended Hinds Community College. She was a longtime member of Drakes United Methodist Church and later joined St. Mark's United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing the piano for both churches as well as singing in the choir. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends and her only grandchild, Caroline. She and her late husband took great enjoyment traveling the world, learning about different cultures and their cuisine.
Survivors include her daughter, Kristy Embry (Scott) of Brandon, MS; and her granddaughter, Caroline Embry. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert "Bill" Norton; father, James E. Spann; mother, Maude Childre Spann; and her brother, Jimmy Spann.
Memorials made be made to the MS Animal Rescue League or MD Anderson, Houston, TX.
