Johnnie Chapman Haughton, born on August 17, 1948, in Meridian, MS, passed away on June 1, 2025, in Brandon, MS. She was a loving wife to her husband, Silas E. Haughton, Jr., and a devoted mother to her son, Daniel Joseph Haughton.

Johnnie's educational journey began at Seminary High School, from which she graduated in 1966. She continued her studies and earned her degree from cosmetology school, eventually graduating from Copiah Lincoln Community College. Her passion for hairdressing not only provided her with a fulfilling career but also allowed her to support and follow her husband during his time in the Navy.

In addition to her career, Johnnie was someone who cherished learning. She had a particular interest in genealogy, spending countless hours traveling to uncover her family history and connect with relatives. Her efforts in tracing their roots brought joy to many and highlighted her love for her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ellre Aubie Chapman and Martha Culpepper Chapman, and her brother, Thomas "Tommy" Chapman. Johnnie will be remembered fondly by those who loved her, including her husband Silas and son Daniel. She leaves behind a legacy of love, curiosity, and dedication to family that will continue to inspire those who knew her.

Visitation will be 2-4pm Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.  Burial will take place at 1pm Monday, July 7, 2025, at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton, MS.
