John David Messer

September 16, 1945 — February 10, 2022

Brandon, MS

John David Messer passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022, at University of Mississippi Medical Center, due to complications after surgery. He was 76 years of age. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, Ms.

John Messer was born September 16, 1945, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa and married the love his life, Linda Cosgrove Messer on December 3, 1966. John worked in the Beverage business for over 35 years, before finally settling down in Memphis, Tennessee with Linda. John and Linda finally came back to where they considered home, Brandon, Ms in August of 2016. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

John Messer was preceded in death by Linda Messer, who passed away on September 2, 2016.

John is survived by his sister, Susie, brother in laws Don Cosgrove and Charles “Uncle Chuck” (Vicki) Cosgrove. John and Linda had three sons: John R. (Nancy) Messer, Aaron A. (Alice) (Cathleen) Messer and Chris L. (Heidi) Messer. In the over fifty years together, John and Linda were welcomed with Daughter in laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren including: John and Nancy Messer - Jeremiah, Rachel and Kurt, Samantha, Tiffany and Lance, Jessie and Joe, Eric, Bradley (Bo), Lexi, Ben, Raylan, Logan, Mason, Zoe (Sweet Pea), Layla and Gavin; Aaron and Alice Messer and Cathleen Cruz – Ryan and Mallory, Kyleen and Steven, Erin and Kyle, Alyssa, Carter, Eli, Ashton, Knox, Shepard, Justin, Tyler, Micah (Moo) and Lil Aaron; Chris and Heidi Messer – Rebecca, Emilee and Keeghan.

John was the perfect example of how a Husband should love and honor his wife and how a Father should raise a family. His faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior continued to grow after the passing of his wife, Linda, and it was this never waning faith in the Lord that has allowed the family to take comfort in knowing that he is where he wanted to be, with the Lord and Linda for all eternity.

Isaiah 57:1-2
the righteous man perishes, and no one lays it to heart; devout men are taken away, while no one understands. For the righteous man is taken away from calamity; he enters into peace; they rest in their beds who walk in their uprightness.

We love you and miss you…. your sons.
