John Mark Shoemaker, known to many as Mark, passed away on June 7, 2026, in Jackson, Mississippi. Born on December 20, 1969, in Scott County, Mississippi, Mark lived a life filled with hard work, creativity, and a love of nature.

Mark worked as a carpenter for many years. He had a special talent for building beautiful furniture, especially cabinets. His craftsmanship brought joy to his mother and showed his dedication and skill. Beyond his work, Mark loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed spending time working in his garden. He also found pleasure in listening to his music, which was a fitting part of his daily life.

Mark is survived by his sister, Sandra "Renea" Walker and her husband Michael; his nephew, Brad Boykin and his wife Hayley; and numerous cousins, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy Ray Shoemaker and Sandra Faye Shoemaker; his paternal grandparents, Tommy Lee Shoemaker and Erma Lee Shoemaker; his maternal grandparents, Joel Thomas and Jennie Ruth Donald; and his uncle Joe Donald.

A visitation will be held on June 13, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Ott & Lee Funeral Homes in Morton, MS. The funeral service will follow on the same day at 2:00 PM at the same location. Burial will be at Leesburg Church of Christ in Morton, MS. Bro. Gary Wyatt will officiate under the direction of Ott and Lee Funeral Home.

Mark's family welcomes all who knew him to come and remember his life, his work, and the simple pleasures that made him who he was. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
