John Baker McKenzie

John Baker McKenzie, 21, of Brandon, Mississippi passed away in a car accident in Star, Mississippi in the early morning hours of Saturday September 12, 2026.

Baker was born in June 2005 in Jackson, Mississippi. Baker was the beloved oldest child of Daniel and Ginger McKenzie of Brandon, Mississippi.

Baker graduated high school from Kaleidoscope Heights Academy in Jackson, Mississippi in May 2024. He went to Holmes Community College and has been working for a pavement maintenance company, Sunbelt Sealing, for the past year.

Baker attended Crossgates Baptist Church since he was born.

Custom trucks and truck races and shows had become a love of Baker’s. He also loved the outdoors and watching old western movies. He started hunting and fishing with his dad at a young age. He loved going to the hunting camp and Lake Washington with family and friends.

Baker is survived by his parents, Danny and Ginger McKenzie, his sister, Sidney McKenzie; his grandparents Jan Duke, Joe and Judy McKenzie; aunts and uncles Paige and Joe Tirone, Tonya Rivers, Brian and Angela McKenzie, and Kristal and Justin Tate; and cousins Nick Tirone (Elizabeth), Will Tirone (Elizabeth), John Tirone (Eden), Ashley Rivers, Amber Rivers, Clare McKenzie, Erin McKenzie, Morgan Stokes (Ryan) and John Miller Tate; as well as other family members and friends.

Baker was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John R. Duke, Jr.

Visitation will be at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, Mississippi on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM with the funeral service beginning at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel.
