John Alden Johnson, Jr., of Brandon, Mississippi, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, in Flowood, Mississippi, at the age of 96.

Mr. Johnson was born on December 12, 1928, in Troy, Mississippi, the only child of John Alden Johnson and Gertie Belle Wilson Johnson. He spent most of his formative years in Oxford, Mississippi, before going on to earn a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at Mississippi State University in 1953. He also served his country for two years in the National Guard, deploying to Germany during the Korean War. He married Etta Mae Hughes on December 20, 1952, and together they had two children and shared 72 years of marriage. Mr. Johnson worked as an engineer for AT&T for 38 years until his retirement, and he and was a member of Crossgates Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Etta Johnson; children, Paula Johnson Conn (Mike) and John Johnson, III (Andrea); five grandchildren, Jason Conn (Kelly), Sara Williamson (Michael), Alden Johnson, Nolan Johnson (Caroline), and Chad Moore; and eight great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by both of his parents.

Visitation will be at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm with a graveside service immediately following in Crestview Memorial Gardens.
