John Hill

John Walter Hill, age 81 of Brandon, passed away peacefully October 3, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. Born May 28, 1941, in Calhoun City MS to Olen Hannaford Hill and Kathleen White Hill. He graduated from Derma High School and served in the Air Force for four years. He then attended Delta State University where he graduated with a BS degree in Business Administration.

The story goes that he graduated on Sunday night and came to Jackson MS on Monday morning to look for a job. He had his first interview with IBM and went to work for them that same day. After 25 years of successful service, he retired from IBM and continued to work from home as a consultant.

John and his wife Gloria are residents of Brandon MS where they are active members of Park Place Baptist Church. To know John is to know that he is a family man. His pride and joy are his family especially his children and grandchildren.

John is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Allen Hill; daughter, Amy (Larry) Savell; son, Jody Hill; brother, Rick (Pauline)Hill; grandchildren, Reagan Savell, Maggie Savell, and Lane Hill; great-granddaughter, Scarlett Marie Hill; nephews, Jeff (Ann) Cannon and Michael Joe (Cheryl) Cannon; niece, Lori (Brooks) Barham; cousin, Barbara Ann Goodson; a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Melba Cannon, Margarite Womble, and Dorothy Howell; brother-in-law, Tommy Howell; and nephew, Tim Howell.

Funeral services will be held at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at 1:00 pm with visitation starting at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Gardens.
