He and his wife operated Cooper's Grocery of Morton since 1983 for currently 38 years. A testament of the old country store feel, as well as the good community fellowship. People come from all around to support the community. People that knew him knew he loved people and loved to talk. He loved meeting people and helping people whenever he could. He never met a stranger. He loved to collect antiques and pop culture items, as seen inside the store. He loved his family and tending to his cows on the farm.
