Jessie Jones Williamson

September 30, 1932 — November 30, 2023

Brandon, MS

Jessie Rose Williamson was last seen at St. Dominic Hospital Nov 30, 2023 surrounded by family. After a hard fought battle with pneumonia, she decided it was time to go home. Although her family and friends are heartbroken, Jessie was one of the best people to live, so they’re sure she traveled first class to the VIP section and is saving a seat for all of them in heaven.

Things you should know about Jessie Rose Jones Williamson:

  • Family was the most important thing to her. She measured her value in family; her husband, sisters, cousins, sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. By her terms, Jessie was a very wealthy woman.

  • Her faith, and countless brothers and sisters in Christ were her rock. Jessie was a fiercely devout follower of Christ. In the good and bad her faith comforted her and numerous friends reminded her and prayed with her every day.

  • Jessie loved to travel and try new things. From family trips with grandchildren to flying all over the country with her husband Ed, she was always up for an adventure. She believed the world was a beautiful place full of things to explore with her family.

  • Jessie was the embodiment of love. She was patient and kind; she did not envy or boast; she was not arrogant or rude. She did not insist on her own way; she was not irritable or resentful; she did not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoiced with the truth.

  • Cooking was affection for Jessie. While she doted on all her family, her love language was food. There was never an empty plate or belly at Nana’s house.

  • James Edward Williamson would be upset not to be a bullet point on her list. Jessie married Ed when she was 19. The two were perfect complements to each other.  Ed was a loud, boisterous and charismatic man while Jessie was a gentle, calming, and loving woman. They were two halves of a whole and loved each other almost as much as they loved their boys and family.

  • In her own words; “The way you live your life is the way you will be remembered. I want to be remembered as an honest person. A good friend who could be counted on in all situations. A good mother, a good mother-in-law, a good grandmother, a good neighbor. I don't have any desire to have my name in neon lights anywhere or to have a place in history books. I just want all of my family and friends to have pleasant memories of me when I am no longer here. I hope that when people speak of me after I'm gone, they will say "she was a good person!!”

  • Jessie, Mom, Nana, was a good person.

Jessie was preceded in death by her parents Eddie Robinson Jones and Verdue Epsie Harrington Jones, her loving husband General James Edward Williamson and sons David Williamson and Dan Williamson.

She is survived by her son James (Sylvia) Williamson, son John (Christy) Williamson, daughters-in-law Larene Williamson and Kimberly Bowman, 10 grandchildren: Mindy (John) Granger, Monica (Myles) Brown, Margaret Williamson, Elizabeth (Jeff) Fish, Katherine  Williamson, JD Williamson, Corbin (Melissa) Williamson, Marina (Devon) Williamson, Molly Williamson, and Audrey Williamson ; 13 great grandchildren, and her cat Smokey Joseph Williamson.
