Jessie Bowlin Lowry

Jessie Bowlin Lowry, age 89, of Brandon, MS passed away peacefully on Friday, June 30, 2023.

Jessie was born in Panther Burn, MS on April 19, 1934, to Jesse Allen Bowlin and Zera E. Hill Bowlin. 

On July 2, 1954, in Greenwood, MS, Jessie married the love of her life, Howard Allen (H.A.) Lowry.  H.A’s career path took them from Greenwood to Jackson, MS; Tupelo, MS; Durham, NC; Hoover, AL and finally Winter Springs, FL.  They chose Brandon, MS as their retirement destination in 1992. They had been married 63 years, 9 months at the time of H.A.’s death in 2018. They are now holding hands again, walking down the streets of gold.

Jessie enjoyed cooking and spending time with family. She would always prepare the favorite meal and dessert of whichever child or grandchild was visiting her.  She enjoyed watching her “stories” and sports on television, especially Saturday college football.  She was a big Mississippi State fan.   In Brandon, Jessie was a member of the Welcome Neighbor Club and the P.E.O. Sisterhood, as well as a volunteer at River Oaks Hospital.  Jessie was a member of Pinelake Church Reservoir Campus.

In addition to her husband, Jessie was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Grace Lott.

Jessie is survived by her children, Debbie (Mitch) Clark of Brandon, MS, Diane (David) Earwood of West Point, MS, and Brenda (Jeff) Lee of Trussville, AL; sister, Bobbye Prewitt of Shaw, MS; grandchildren, Michelle Clark (Jay) Armstrong, Leanne Earwood (Andrew) Tucker, Brad (Sally) Earwood, Kevin (Ashley) Earwood, Brandon (Morgan) Lee, and Kelly Lee (Daniel) Jones; ten great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.

A Graveside service will be held at Lakeland Place Memorial Park on Tuesday July 11, 2023, at 11a.m.
