Jerry Wayne Prestage

Jerry Wayne Prestage, a beloved member of the Morton community, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on October 1, 1955, in Morton, MS, Jerry was a lifelong resident of the area and took great pride in his roots.

His quiet demeanor often belied a passionate spirit that found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Jerry loved to fish, dedicating countless hours driving around in search of that perfect fishing spot. His affinity for nature reflected his reserved personality, allowing him to find solace among the tranquil waters and lush landscapes that surrounded him.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Eddie Lee Ainsworth Prestage, who left this world in 2017. He also mourned the loss of his parents, Russell and Dorothy Mae Prestage, as well as his siblings Patricia Anne Derrick, Becky Anne Prestage, Carol Diane Tribudoe, Richard Lee Prestage, and Benny Charles Prestage. Their memories were cherished in his heart, and he carried their legacies with him throughout his life.

He is survived by three sisters: Dorothy Evans, Barbara Mitchell, and Linda Prestage; and two brothers, Robert Earl Prestage and Danny Ray Prestage. Jerry's family extended to include his special granddaughter, Dana Roberts, and her husband, James, who brought him immense pride and joy.

A visitation with family will be held on June 30, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton, followed by a funeral service that will begin at 2:00 PM. Jerry will be laid to rest with dignity in Leesburg Church of Christ Cemetery later that same day, at 3:00 PM.

As family and friends gather to honor Jerry's life, they will remember him for his gentle spirit, dedication to his loved ones, and the many cherished moments shared in laughter and love. His legacy will continue in the hearts of those who knew him, forever a quiet presence echoing through the lives he touched.
