Jerry Griffin

October 9, 1951 — June 19, 2025

Morton

Jerry Griffin of Morton, Mississippi , passed away peacefully at the age of 73 surrounded by the love of his family. Born on October 9, 1951, he was the son of the late Frank and Laverne Griffin. He was the husband of Gail Griffin, devoted father to Michael (Kendred) Griffin and Christal Griffin, and proud grandfather to Will and Garrett Griffin, Abby Rabon (Quinton) and Cruze Griffin. He was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Nash Rabon. He also leaves behind his brothers, Larry and Jimmy Griffin. Jerry spent over two decades behind the wheel as a dedicated truck driver and even for a few years he had the opportunity to share a space behind the wheel with his son Michael and later worked another 10 years alongside his brother, Larry. He was a hardworking man who found purpose not only in his work but, more importantly, in his family. He was also a proud member of the MS State Guard. He served as a Sergeant for many years, serving with the 110th battalion, 1st Brigade military police. He took great pride in being able to volunteer and serve his state and country. Jerry had a servants heart. His love was evident through taking care of basic things for his family whether it be fixing things, grass cutting or detailing their cars. He always made time and he did it with quiet generosity, no matter the hour. As Jerry got older and the grands got bigger you would often find him walking the block with a dog on a leash and stopping to feed any and all neighborhood dogs. He was an Elvis fan and he shared that love with his daughter. He was a steady presence in the lives of those who knew him. His kindness and humor will be missed more than words can say. A faithful man, Jerry rarely missed church and lived by a simple, profound truth: “Don’t cry for me. I know where Im going.” Though our hearts weren’t ready to say goodbye, he was ready in his own way, with peace and assurance. A homegoing service will be on Sunday June 22,2025 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home of Morton. Visitation will be from 11:30-3:00 PM with service beginning at 3:00PM. Rev.Josh Kennedy and Rev. Bryce Harrell will be officiating. Burial will follow at Hodge Hill Cemetery.
