Jerry Everett, age 70, a resident of Cooperville community, passed away on September 27, 2021, in Meridian, MS following a brief illness.
Born to James and Betty Jean Harrison Everett on July 26, 1951, in Morton, MS. After high school Jerry got his BA Degree at University of Southern Mississippi and was an insurance salesman for several years. Later moving back home to Cooperville, he began and ran his cattle farm. Waiting till later in life to get married, he would tell his wife Renee, that he waited for the best.
Jerry was an avid golfer and was a member of the Jackson Senior Golf Club in Jackson, MS; he was a gold medalist in the Senior Olympics in golf for the state of Mississippi. Jerry would have represented Mississippi in the National Senior Olympics.
Jerry loved the Lord and was a member of Springfield Baptist Church where, he and his wife, Renee enjoyed attending the adult Sunday school class gatherings.
Preceded in death by his parents, James Lee and Betty Jean Harrison Everett.
Survived by his wife Renee Everett; two sisters, Freda Sherman, (Rusty), Laura Cook, (Dean): a host of nieces and nephews; and was a mentor and father figure to Renee’s four children.
Visitation will be 9:30 to 11:00 am Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Springfield Baptist Church, a Funeral Service will follow at 11: am at the Church, with Bro. Jerry Lewis Officiating. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be, Tony Denton, Ben McCurdy, Don Antrim, Ian Batton, Aaron Batton and Don Ramsey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Springfield Baptist Church “Operation Christmas Child” fund.
Funeral Services are entrusted to Ott and Lee Funeral in Morton, MS.
