Jerry D Coward

Jerry D. Coward, a beloved member of the Morton community, passed away on June 12, 2025, at the age of 58 in Jackson, Mississippi. Born on December 11, 1966, in Morton, Mississippi, Jerry was a man who truly cherished the essence of family and the bonds that unite us.

Throughout his life, Jerry was known for his passionate interests, particularly in woodworking, hunting, and fishing. However, above all, he dedicated his time and love to his family. He was a devoted father to his five children: Jerry Coward, and his fiancée, Emily; Jessica Hatch and her husband, Justin; Jayme Coley and her husband, Thomas; Jimmie McMorris; and Anna Clayton, bonus children, Haleigh Johnson, her husband, Timothy Johnson and Staci Herrington. Additionally, Jerry took great pride in being a grandfather to ten grandchildren, instilling in them the values of hard work and the importance of family connections.

He is survived by his siblings, including Ruthann Ellingburg and her husband, Billy; Mike Coward and his wife, Jenny; Bob Coward; William "Bobo" Coward and his wife, JoAnna; and Steven White. Jerry's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him, including extended family and friends who have shared precious moments across the years.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Neuite "Bud" and Annie McCurdy Coward, as well as two brothers, Jimmy Coward and Roy Coward. Their memories continue to resonate in the hearts of Jerry's loved ones.

In honor of his life, family and friends will gather for visitation at Ott & Lee Funeral Homes in Morton on June 14, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and again on June 15, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating his life will follow on June 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM.

As we remember Jerry, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear. His spirit will live on in the cherished stories and memories he leaves behind.
