Longtime Gulf Coast resident and retired radiographer, Jeff Cooper passed away May 18, 2021 at his home.
A native of Morton, Springfield community, Jeffrey Lavell Cooper was born October 4, 1954. Jeff began his early education in Morton, and was a 1974 graduate of Pascagoula High School. He enlisted in the United States Army after completion of high school which took Jeff to several places before being honorably discharged. During his military service, Jeff completed course work as a basic medical specialist, and was a graduate of the Academy of Health Sciences in Houston, Texas. His professional career spanned a tenure of over 26 years (1983-2009), where he served as an x-ray technologist, clinical instructor, diagnostic technologist, radiologist, and medical staffer. He was a Baptist by faith holding membership, at Springfield Baptist Church and then transferring that membership to First Baptist Church in Pascagoula. He will be remembered for his compassionate demeanor, and his love for his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lavell and Frances Idom Cooper; and he is survived by his two sisters: Pamela (Dwight) Savell and Janice Bush, both of Gautier. Jeff is survived by his nieces and nephews: Charles Bush, Jennifer Millette, Amy Savell, Holly Bullard, and Heather Dearman.
Graveside services will begin at 3:00 pm, Sunday, May 23, 2021, from the Springfield Baptist Cemetery with military honors, provided by the United States Army Honor Guard.
Rev. Jerry Lewis, pastor of Springfield Baptist Church will officiate.
Danny Cooper, Kendall Winstead, Charles Bush, Joseph Millette, Dwight Savell, and Phillip Young will serve as pallbearers.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home.
