Jefferson Thompson

Mr. Jefferson Lee Thompson, age 94, a resident of Morton MS, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 in Forest MS.

Born on December 17, 1927, to Oscar and Susie Alford Thompson in Scott County, one of nine children. Jefferson was married to Burnelle Ivy Thompson, and lived in Rankin County for fifty seven plus years.

He loved gardening, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Jefferson loved everyone and was loved by all that knew him. Never having children of his own, he helped raise most of his nieces, and nephews. Jefferson always enjoyed seeing all the children that came to visit and to see their little eyes light up.

Preceded in death, by his parents, Oscar and Susie Thompson; five siblings Ernest Thompson, Jack Thompson, Sybil Westberry, Austin Thompson, and Otis Thompson; his wife of 57 years, Bernelle Ivy Thompson.

Survived by one brother, J.W. Thompson; two sisters, Sudie Thompson and Janelle Thompson Traxler, and with a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5pm to 7pm Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home In Morton MS. Funeral Services will be 2pm Sunday February 27, 2022 at Ott and Lee Chapel in Morton, MS. Interment will be at Hodge Hill Cemetery in Morton, MS.
