Jean Roberta Nicol Lantz, 92, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022.
Jean was born July 22, 1930, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. She lived in Brentwood, Pennsylvania and LaGrange, Illinois as a child. She moved to Goshen, Indiana, when she was a teenager. In 1948 she graduated from Goshen High School, where she met her high school sweetheart, Ned Lantz. They married on May 1, 1949, in Millersburg, Indiana, and he joined the United States Air Force. After Ned left the Air Force, the Lantz family lived in Hammond, Indiana and Detroit, Michigan, before settling in Brandon, Mississippi. Jean was a long-time member of Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church.
Following her retirement from the Veterans Administration, she became an avid traveler, traveling to England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Germany, and Canada. She was proud of her Scottish heritage and Canadian ancestry. She enjoyed all things Disney, including her travels to Disney World, Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ned Darr Lantz; parents Wilbur and Mary Nicol; and two sisters, Mary Hyde and Marjorie Clark.
She is survived by two daughters, Skylar Redmann (Douglas) of Benton, Arkansas and Wendy Lewis (Kirby) of Brandon, Mississippi; four grandchildren Nicolette Hall (Anthony), Jonathan Lewis, Christopher Lewis (Lauren), and Christina Redmann; and three great-grandsons Landon Hall, Lance Hall, and Luke Lewis.
She will be laid to rest with her husband in Soloman Creek Cemetery in Syracuse, Indiana at a graveside service.
