Jane L. Walker, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away on June 20, 2025, at the age of 67 in Morton, Mississippi. Born on December 15, 1957, in Philadelphia, Mississippi, Jamie was known for her warmth, kindness, and love for cooking, which brought together friends and family throughout her life.
Jamie cherished her family above all. She is survived by her devoted husband, Wendell Walker, and their three children, Candace Atkinson, J.C. Higginbotham, and Fred Higginbotham. The love and pride she had for her family were evident in everything she did, nurturing and supporting them unconditionally. Additionally, Jamie delighted in spending time with her nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who were the joys of her life. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Myers, who shares fond memories of their time together.
Jamie was preceded in death by her parents, Freddy and Inez Duett, who instilled in her the values that guided her throughout her life, as well as her son, Timothy Duett.
The legacy that Jamie leaves behind is one of love, compassion, and cherished memories. A visitation will be held on July 2, 2025, at Ott & Lee Funeral Homes in Morton from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM, before the funeral service, which will begin at 2:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in burial at Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Morton on July 2, 2025, starting at 3:00 PM.
Jamie L. Walker's spirit will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
