James Ed Cumberland

Ed Cumberland, age 79, a resident of the Sardis Community, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2022, at home surrounded by his family.

Born on September 1, 1943, to, J.D. and Nettie Jenkins Cumberland in Neshoba County. Later moving to Smith County, Ed had another set of parents, John Ruth, and Mary Purvis.

Hobbies of Ed was his love for fishing, he was a member Magnolia Crappie club, an avid hunter, but the love for his family brought him great joy.

Preceded in death were his parents, J. D. and Nettie Cumberland, John Ruth, and Mary Purvis; two brothers, Eugene Cumberland, Jerry Cumberland.

Survived by his wife, Clara, two daughters, Renee Cumberland, Donna Parker: sight siblings, Sybil Perkins, Edna Fisher, Nan Boone, Hattie Latham, Kathy Bevil, Anita Wilson, David Cumberland, Danny Purvis. Five grandchildren, Candie Westbrook, Dewey Westbrook, Darby Parker, Audrey Parker, Sadie Parker; four great grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Ed was Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton, MS, Burial was in The Henderson Family Cemetery in Smith County.
