James Ervin Watson Jr.

James, a devoted family man, rock guitar enthusiast, grill master, and lover of his dogs, passed away on October 13, 2024 at the age of 67. His passion for music filled his home with the sounds of classic rock riffs, while his grill filled the air with the smell of barbecue shared with family and friends. A memorial visitation will be held at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 10-12pm. There will be no funeral or graveside service.

He loved grilling, bringing people together over good food and great music. His dogs were always by his side, hoping for a taste, while rock tunes played in the background, adding to the joy of those moments.

James is preceded in death by his parents, James Watson Sr. and Gertrude Bailey; and brother, William Jones.

 He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Beth Watson; two sons, Sonny Sparks (Courtney) of Kosciusko, MS, and Shawn Sparks (Amanda) of Mayfield, Ky; six grandchildren, Eady, Cooper, Alli, Emery, Spencer, and Luke Sparks; and two sisters, Geradine, and Jo Carol Sistrunk.

A loving husband, dad, and papaw, James will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and his loyal dogs. His legacy of love, music, grilling, and companionship will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

 Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Steve Martin, Richard Wilkerson, Richard Wooten, Clint Wilkerson, and the members of Jame's band, Kreeper Nelson.

Rest in peace, James. May your music and your grill forever burn bright.
