James H. “Jim” Summerlin, 88, passed away on January 3, 2026, in Jackson, MS. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl.
He graduated from Central High School in Jackson. He served in the Navy, assigned to the Marine Corp, as a medical corpsman. Followed by a 50-year sales career at Standard Stationers and OffiSource.
Jim was a devoted family man, married to the love of his life for 62 years. He was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Jackson. Over the years, he enjoyed deer hunting with his father-in-law, fishing with his son, metal detecting, reading about history, and spending time with his cherished granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis Summerlin; son Phil Summerlin (Jennifer); granddaughter, Emily Summerlin; sister-in-law Lois Summerlin; nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Hattie Summerlin; sister, Mollie Jean Ross; and brother, Robert Earl Summerlin.
