Jacob West

Jacob Russell West passed away unexpectedly at home at the age of 18 on Friday, March 25, 2022. He was kind and generous to his friends, incredibly loyal, and unconditionally loved by his family. Jacob loved the outdoors, and immensely enjoyed duck hunting and fishing with his brother and his friends. During his time in Utah, he became an accomplished horseman, an activity he enjoyed sharing with his sister when he returned home. He was looking forward to starting school in May.

Jacob felt deeply and knew a great deal of pain during his short life. Although our hearts are broken, we know he has finally found the peace he was searching for in the arms of God. Our friend shared Romans 8:39 with us: “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!”

Jacob was preceded in death by his grandfather, David Benjamin Britt, in May of 2019, whom Jacob honored with a tattoo of a lyric from a hymn they loved together. He is survived by his parents, John and Bobbie West, his brother and sister John David and Emma Grace, his grandmother, Bobbie Russell Britt, and his grandfather and grandmother, John C. and Ruth West. He is also survived by uncle and aunt Shane and Christy Byrd, and their children Riley and Elijah, as well as uncle and aunt David R. and Catharyna Britt, and their children David, Benjamin, and Helen. He was loved by these and many more.

Funeral services will be held at Ott and Lee funeral home in Brandon, MS, on Monday, March 28, 2022, at 2 p.m. Visitation will begin at noon.
