Inez Drummond Barthel, 85, passed away on Saturday, August 07, 2010 at River Oaks Hospital. Visitation will be 2 until 5 pm Sunday and starting at 12 pm on Monday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. The funeral service will be 1 pm Monday, August 9 in the chapel of the funeral home with interment to follow in Lakewood South on McClure Road in Jackson.
Mrs. Barthel was born in Simpson County on May 11, 1925, to Ancie Drummond and Gertrude Meadows Drummond whom preceded her in death. Her husband of 62 years, George L. Barthel Jr., also preceded her in death.
She loved to play Golf and square dancing with her husband, and she also loved her grandchildren very much. Mrs. Barthel was very involved with the Senior Adult Activities at Brandon Baptist Church where she was a member and a former member of Briarhill Baptist Church where she was still active in the Magic Club. Inez loved to take care of her beloved poodle, Rudy.
Survivors include her children, Lydia Dunn and husband, Robert of Natchez, Donna Gonzales and husband Ramon of Terry, George Barthel, III of Brandon, Eddie Barthel and wife Peggy of Florence and Eric Barthel and wife Lisa of Collierville, TN; and 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
