Ida Ellaweeze Brewer Lampkin, age 88, a resident of the Mississippi Care Center of Morton, since 2024, in Morton, Mississippi, passed away on September 4, 2025. Ellaweeze was born on October 23, 1936, in Frogtown (Pulaski), Mississippi, to Andrew Jackson Brewer and Frankie Allen-Trest Brewer. She lived her whole life in Mississippi mainly in the Scott County area.
Ellaweeze was a 1958 graduate of Morton High School. Later in life, she attended Mississippi State University to further her education career. In December of 1961, she married Jimmie Odell Lampkin in Hinds County, Mississippi. They lived in Jackson, Mississippi until 1963 then they returned to Morton, Mississippi. They lived in Morton, Mississippi until after Jimmie’s death in February 2017.
They were married for 55 years. In 2022, Ellaweeze was in a car accident and needed someone to care for her and lived with her daughter until 2024.
In October of 1962, Ellaweeze and Jimmie began their family with a son, William J. Lampkin. In September of 1964, they had their second son, Steve Michael Lampkin and in August of 1969, they had a daughter, Leann Lampkin.
Ellaweeze worked at Stanwood in Pelahatchie, Mississippi until 1970. She then taught at Headstart, a Friends of Children of Mississippi Program for 29 years. She later went on to babysit and to be a care giver to the elderly.
Ellaweeze is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie O. Lampkin (Lampkin), her son, Steve Michael Lampkin, her daughter-in-law, Elena Del Valle Melo Lampkin, her parents, Andrew Jackson Brewer and Frankie Allen-Trest Brewer Bennett, her in laws, Simp P. Lamkin and Agnes Lee Fitzhugh Lamkin, her sister and brother-in-law, Frances M. Brewer Bennett and Calvin Cecil Bennett, her brother and sister-in-law, William J. (Buck) Brewer and Lena A. Harrell Brewer, her step sisters, Mary Elaine Bennett Rice and Reba Quay Bennett, her niece, Deborah Brewer Seyedin, her step niece, Sheila Diane Rice and her nephew, Cecil Richard (Ricky) Bennett. Also her very close friend, Sara Ruth Rochester Cole, who she loved as her sister.
She is survived by her two children, William Jeffrey Lampkin and Leann Lampkin Dennis (Scott). Her two grandchildren, Parker Lamkin Dennis and Katie Elizabeth Dennis. Her former daughter-in-law, Susan Lampkin. Her adopted grandchild, Lillian Marie Herring. She has a host of nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Ellaweeze was also talented baker, she made a lot of cakes whether it was for birthdays or weddings, she loved to cook, she loved to sew for her family and friends and grow her own vegetables.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Mississippi Care Center of Morton, Gentiva Hospice, her Great Niece, Deanna Bennett, and to her friends and family that visited, prayed for her, and brought food to her.

Visitation will be held 5pm-8pm Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home.
Chapel service will be held 2pm Sunday, graveside to follow at Allen Chapel Bible Cemetery.
