Hollie Archie McKay

Hollie Archie McKay, the son of Otto McKay, Sr. and Christine Agnew, passed away on February 3, 2026. Archie was a long-time resident of Brandon, Mississippi. He was a lay minister in the Episcopal Church. Archie served in the U. S. Navy as a Submarine Technician and as Nuclear Engineering Operator during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War era. He was a Mason for 56 years and achieved Master Mason. He earned a private pilot license. Archie was instrumental in helping others through the “twelve-step” recovery process for many years.

Archie’s devoted wife of 41 years, Tanis, who he “loved a mile” preceded him in death in 2025, along with his mother, father and stepfather, Fred Searcy, Sr. He is survived by his daughter, Ashley McKay, his stepsons Billy and David Watson, Ashley’s mother, Carolyn McKay, niece Sheila Dykes (Jimmy), as well as his half-brothers and sisters; Fred Searcy, Jr., Otto McKay, Jr. (Penny) Patsy McKay Brooks (Charles), Rex McKay (Kim) and Elaine McKay.

Archie was an avid reader of history, specifically about war battles and military leaders. He was also well-versed in the history of Brandon. He loved fishing, watching Ole Miss and any SEC football games and sitting in his swing for endless hours.

There will be a graveside service at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Bovina, MS on Saturday, February 7 at 11 A.M.
