John Holleman Rountree, 19, of Brandon, Ms., completed his calling on this earth Sunday, January 29, 2023, after his truck hydroplaned and hit a tree. Holleman came into this world as a wonderful surprise on March 24, 2003, to his parents, Ray and Cherry, Rountree and big brothers Townsend, Justin, and Ross Rountree. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Mr. and Mrs., William Rountree of Mobile, Alabama and Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Marlar Sr. of Corinth Mississippi.
He attended Park Place Christian Academy then received his H.S. Diploma through Reach Home School Association. After graduating Holleman pursued his dream of learning to weld and fabricate through a blessed opportunity of working and learning this trade at Wicker Brothers Metal fabrication in Richland, Mississippi. He loved his job and his employer and those training him. Holleman was very creative and very funny. He also loved working with his brother on his truck. This perked his interest in being part of a truck club which lead to many new friends. He was compassionate and had an eye for seeing a need and wasn’t afraid to give, help or serve and kept it under his cap. Holleman’s kindness has been brought to light so much so that his truck friends I’ve made decals that read #LLH, Live Like Holleman. Holleman would be the first to tell you, his heart was about giving and being an example of Christ in his walk more than his talk. His family is so very grateful for how the community has stepped up to care for them and all of their needs in their time of saying their temporary goodbyes to their sweet son, brother and friend.
A Celebration of Holleman’s Life will be 3:00 pm Friday, February 3, 2023, at Crossgates Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Lakeland Place Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Ott and Lee Funeral Home, Brandon and again on Friday at the church starting at 1:30pm.
