Henry Lofton Bounds Jr.

Henry Lofton Bounds, Jr., 94, of Pearl, Mississippi, passed away at home on August 12, 2026.

Henry was born January 7, 1932, in Forrest City, Arkansas, to Henry and Maud Bounds. After graduating from Byram High School in 1949, he attended Southwest Community College for one year before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant in 1954 and later earned a mechanical engineering degree from Mississippi State College.

A licensed professional engineer in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas, Henry worked for United Gas Pipeline Company for 30 years, serving mostly in south Louisiana and the Jackson area.

He was a Master Mason, a member of Tyrian Lodge No. 427, a York Rite participant, and a Shriner with the Wahabi Temple.

Henry married Mary Beth Sharp, and together they raised two daughters: Suzanne Gill (Stan) of Crystal Springs, Mississippi, and Leslie Bounds of Brandon, Mississippi.

Henry enjoyed life at his own pace, often spending a good day tinkering in the garage while smoking his pipe. He was a member of Brandon First Methodist Church and enjoyed being a part of the JOY Sunday School Class and senior adult ministries.

He is survived by his daughters; sister-in-law, Martha S. Wilkerson of Lake, Mississippi; grandsons, Seth T. Gill and Luke A. Gill of Crystal Springs, Mississippi, and Caleb Gill (Carlie) of Oxford, Mississippi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Brandon First Methodist Church, with Rev. Scott Larsen officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will take place at the church that morning from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS is handling arrangements.
