Hazel Marie Cosson Cox, beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, in Brandon, Mississippi.
Hazel was born on July 23, 1936, in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. On November 6, 1959, Hazel married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Cox in Pensacola. As a young couple they started a family in Satsuma, Alabama where Hazel poured herself into her role as a wife and mother. She was an amazing cook, seamstress, gardener and proud member of the local garden club. Eventually their path led to Brookhaven, Mississippi where she continued devoting her life to her family and were active members of the United Methodist Church. In later years they enjoyed traveling the country with their best friends. After Bob’s passing in 2016, Hazel continued to embrace life, moving to Brandon, Mississippi.
Hazel will be fondly remembered as Grammy by her adored grandchildren who were the light of her life. She cherished the special moments spent with them, which brought immense joy and happiness to her days.

She is also survived by her beautiful grandchildren, Bodie Agnew and fiancé Elle Lingle, Cosson Agnew, Madeline Murphy, and Lannin Murphy; her sisters Hilda Tompkins (Jerry), Geraldine Ivey and many special nieces and nephews.
