Gregory Duren Beech, beloved husband, father, brother, and Paw Paw, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, at the Mississippi Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Born on March 7, 1952, in New Orleans, LA, to Earl Duren Beech and Edith Schooley Beech. Greg’s life was one defined by devotion to family, deep faith, steadfast service, and an unwavering work ethic.
Called to serve, Greg had a distinguished career with the U.S. Army retiring after thirty-one years of service. He retired from the U. S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), a major Army command headquartered at Fort Monroe, Hampton, VA. He demonstrated dedication, discipline, and commitment to the mission, retiring with the respect and admiration of those who served alongside him.
While Greg’s professional achievements were considerable, those who knew him best cherished his quiet strength and his generosity of spirit. He was a man of deep faith and a devoted servant of the Lord, serving in his church community as a Deacon, a Sunday School teacher, and as a website developer, always eager to lend his many talents in service to others.
In his leisure time, Greg found peace and happiness in simple pleasures. As long as health allowed, he took joy in cutting the grass and tending to his yard. Music was a big part of his life; from playing piano, various instruments in his high school band, to listening to his favorite artists over the years. His love for music brightened many days.
Greg’s legacy is lovingly carried on by his wife of forty-seven years, Linda Beech; his stepdaughter, Paige Loft (Brian); his stepson, Dennis Russell Gray (Marsha) and his grandchildren, Hayden Gray, Holden Gray, Lauren Gray-Andrews, and Bonnie Claire Loft. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Beech (Jeanette), his sister-in-law, Alletha Tadlock, as well as several nephews and a niece. Greg’s life was deeply intertwined with that of his family, and he treasured the bonds they shared.
He is now reunited in peace with his father, Earl Duren Beech; his mother, Edith Schooley Beech; and his sister, Judy Beech Booth, all of whom preceded him in death.
A visitation to honor Greg’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, Mississippi. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at 10:30 am at Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon.
Gregory Duren Beech’s memory lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. His kindness, faith, and enduring dedication to service will remain an inspiration to those who were privileged to know him.
