Gerald David Giles was born December 19, 1947 in Brandon, MS and he was called to rest with our Lord on June 28, 2011. He was the son of Cecil Lewis Giles and Addie Mae White Giles. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Cecil Ann Mullins. Gerald received Christ at an early age. He was a devout Baptist and lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church. He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife, Brenda Giles, son Christopher and wife Marylou Dill of Clinton, MS; daughters, Toni and husband Bill Dearman of Madison, MS; Ivy Lynn Giles, of Montgomery, Al; Jennifer Rhea Giles, of Mobile, AL; brother, Ronnie Giles of Brandon, MS; grandson Christopher Wyatt Dill, grand-daughter on the way and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and countless friends. Gerald loved the outdoors, golfing, hunting and fishing. He had a lifelong love of karate. In 1977 Gerald was inducted into the Mississippi Karate Association’s Inaugural Black Belt Hall of Fame, and he was inducted into the Masters Hall of Fame in 2009. As a Master Instructor, he produced several generations of award winning students. Gerald was one of the best Martial Artist’s ever to come from Mississippi. His awards and accomplishments were vast. Gerald’s greatest accomplishment was his love for his wife, family and friends. G-Paw will be missed.
Funeral services will be 10 am Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Bethel Baptist Church, with visitation starting at 8:30am at the church. Burial will follow in Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
