George Douglas Nigreville

August 19, 1942 — July 1, 2025

Brandon, MS

George Douglas Nigreville, passed away on July 1, 2025. Doug from Alexandria, LA, lived in Brandon, MS with his wife Gayle. Prior to that time, he lived in Natchez, MS, Birmingham, AL and Lafayette, LA.

He was a loving father, a devoted husband, and a very hard worker. A proud father of two, and a deeply cherished grandfather to five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren who brought light to his life. He lived his life with grit, humor, and deep love for the people and teams that meant the most to him. Being a lifelong fan of sports, he rode the highs and the lows of his favorite teams with the same passion and intensity he brought to everything else in his life. Whether it was disputing noisily at the TV (and refs) or celebrating a win, sports were more than a pastime-they were part of who he was.

Doug is survived by his wife, Donna Gayle Barton Nigreville of 65 years; daughter, Pamela Ann and her husband, Mike Smith; son, Grady Dean and his wife, Danielle; grandchildren, Rachel Elizabeth Knight, Jenna Lynn Smith Fritscher, Abbey Gayle Sammons and her husband, Thomas Sammons, Gates Neuville, and his wife, Mary Barton, and Joshua James Neuville; great grandchildren, Mark, Jeri Lynn, Michel, Gabriel, Everett, and Ellis Anne. He is also survived by his brother, Louis Nigreville and his wife, Pam; sister, Ann Bryant and her husband, Harold. He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Bruce; father, James Douglas Nigreville, sisters, Joyce Evelyn, Charlotte Malone; brother-in-law, Mike Malone; and his great granddaughter, Savannah Grace.

Doug was born August 19, 1942, in Shreveport, LA. His family moved to the Alexandria/Pineville area, where he attended Our Lady Of Prompt Succor in Alexandria. He graduated from Bolton High School in 1960. He joined the United States Air Force that year serving at Homestead Air Force Base in Roswell, New Mexico and stationed at Harmon AFB, Newfoundland. After serving four years he returned to Alexandria and was employed in Consumer Finance. He was a born salesman and was fortunate to be hired by State Farm Insurance in 1976. He was a 30-year agent with State Farm. He began as an agent in Port Allen-Baton Rouge, LA, and then as a District Manager in Lafayette, LA. He then moved to Birmingham, AL as an Agency Director, the last 15 years before retirement he was in Natchez, MS in Agency. His industry and company accomplishments within the company include Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), 13 Legion of Honor, 3 Bronze Tablet, 4 Silver Scroll, 5 Lifetime President’s Club and 18 Travel awards, where he was able to take his family to places all over the world.

Doug served as a Deacon a Parkway Baptist Church; he also taught an adult Sunday School Class. He worked with the middle-aged schoolboys at Pinelake Church on Wednesday night activities for 5 years. He taught English as a second language. He especially enjoyed his time of service at the Pinelake Church Care Center. He attended Pastor Jim Blaha’s Bible Study Class at Lakeside Presbyterian Church. He cherished this class for many years.

He played tennis and enjoyed the camaraderie of the Natchez Seniors Team. He always said, “I had the most fun of all relaxing playing tennis with the guys”.

His legacy will live on in the stories we tell, the lessons we carry, and the laughter that still echoes from memories only he could have given us. There was no one quite like him, and there never will be again. We will miss his voice, his presence, and the way he made every moment bigger just by being in it.

Rest easy Doug. This game of life won’t be the same without you.
