George Sidney Dennis, of Pearl, Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in Flowood, Mississippi, at the age of 82.
Sidney was born January 8, 1943, in Newton, Mississippi, to George Samuel Dennis and Christine Parker Posey. He moved to Pearl with his family at the age of 14. He married Alice L. Watkins on November 30, 1964, and together they shared over 60 wonderful years of marriage. He worked for the Illinois Central Railroad for 43 years as a conductor until his retirement.
Sidney was a faithful man. He and Alice were members of Pearl Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and loved his church family. He put God first, his family second, and his church family as a close third. He enjoyed spending time on the family farm in Newton, especially working with the tractors. He also loved playing golf. He will be remembered as a man who loved his family and loved people.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George Samuel Dennis and Christine Posey.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Dennis; daughter, Karen Leggett (Johnny); granddaughter, Olivia Troth (Raymond); great granddaughter, Zoie Fowler; brother, Donald Dennis (Glenna); and sister, Sandra Robinson (Dan).
Visitation will be Friday, April 18, 2025, at Pearl Presbyterian Church from 10:00 to 11:00 am with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 am. Graveside service will be Friday afternoon at 2:30 pm in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Lawrence, Mississippi.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pearl Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 2933 Old Brandon Rd. Pearl, MS 39208.
