Gail S. Mitchell, a beloved member of her community and cherished family member, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, in Brandon, MS. Born on September 8, 1960, in Morton, MS, Gail spent her life surrounded by the love of her family and friends, who will forever remember her warm spirit and caring nature.
Gail was devoted to her family, including her husband, Dennis Mitchell, of Brandon, MS, and her two children: Krissa Moore of Brandon, MS, and Brandon Mitchell, who, along with his wife Emily, resided in Clinton, MS. Her legacy also includes four grandchildren, Abigail, Erica, Davie, and Audrey, who brought immense joy and pride to her life.
Siblings Lillie (Billy) Wooten of Morton, MS, Ruby (Bobby) Williams of Leesburg, MS, and Charlie R. Shoemaker of Morton, MS, will miss their sister dearly, as will many extended family members and friends who knew and loved her.
Gail had a passion for creativity, finding joy in hobbies such as diamond painting, needlepoint, shopping on Temu, and watching television. These interests highlighted her vibrant personality and ability to bring joy to the simplest moments.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Winnie Shoemaker, and her brother, Billy D. Shoemaker. Their memories will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved and cherished them.
Visitation services will be held at Ott & Lee Funeral Homes in Morton, MS. The first visitation will take place on August 29, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by a second visitation on August 30, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM. A funeral service will be held on August 30, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM, concluding with a burial at New Hope Fellowship Cemetery in Morton, MS, at 12:00 PM.
Gail S. Mitchell’s impact on those around her will be remembered fondly, and her spirit will live on through the many wonderful memories created throughout her life.
