Faynette Myers Fortune, born on August 2, 1947, in West Point, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, in Jackson, Mississippi. She lived a full life marked by dedication to her family and career.
Faye earned an Associate’s degree in Nursing and served as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Lakeland Nursing Home until her retirement in 2009. Her commitment to caring for others was evident throughout her professional life.
Those who knew Faye remember her as someone who truly enjoyed being around her family. She especially cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, bringing joy and warmth to their lives. She was a member of New Journey Baptist Church.
Faye is survived by her son, Scott Fortune; her daughter, Beth Mabry and her husband Greg; her grandchildren, Hannah Simpson and her husband Jacob, and Owen Mabry and his fiancée Jenah Jones; her great-grandchildren, Ella Gray, Georgia, and Thomas Simpson; her sister, Ruby Ricks and her husband Kenneth; her sister-in-law, Jennie Fortune; and her brother-in-law, Tim Smith and his wife Teresa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Fortune; her father, John Bernard Myers; her mother, Mary Emma Martin Myers; and her brother, Fuzzy Myers.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation, which will take place on April 8, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Ott & Lee Funeral Homes in Brandon, Mississippi, located at 1360 W Government Street. The funeral service will be held the following day, April 9, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m., with burial at Andrew Chapel Cemetery. .
Faye’s life was a blessing to those around her. She will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and dedication to her loved ones. Her memory will live on through her family and all who had the privilege to know her.
