Everne Hollingsworth Culpepper, 93, passed from life in time to life eternal, ending a generation, on Saturday, October 31, 2020, in her home. Visitation is 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2020, at Ott and Lee Funeral Home, Forest, MS, followed by funeral services at 3:30 p.m. at Sharon Primitive Baptist Church, Old Highway 80, Lake, MS, with burial in the church cemetery. (Please wear masks and observe social distancing as much as possible.)
Everne was the eighth of ten children born to Jacob Benjamin Hollingsworth and Fannie Ola McMillan on April 26, 1927, in the Good Hope Community. She married Henry Clemons Culpepper on December 20, 1946. They made their home and raised their family in Jackson until 1976, when they moved to Florence. Their hearts and souls always remained “over home” in Good Hope.
Everne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law and friend to all those who loved her. She was independent, strong and grateful for God’s blessings. She faithfully depended on God’s sovereign mercy and grace through life’s trials and tribulations.
A member of Sharon Primitive Baptist Church for more than 60 years, she was an unapologetic Old School, Hard Shell Primitive Baptist, believing firmly in the absolute predestination of all things.
Survivors include her children Debby Kazery (Eyd); Shane Culpepper; Jon Culpepper (Shelia); grandchildren Christen Kazery Hobbs (Josh); Conor Culpepper; Courtney Culpepper (Cameron); Rhett Culpepper (Sara); Jane Culpepper; Dakotah Culpepper; great grandchildren Elizabeth Madalyn Hobbs; Olivia Grace Hobbs; Caroline Anne Hobbs; sisters-in-law Mary Ellen Hollingsworth and Betty Ivey Hollingsworth, and nieces and nephews too numerous to list.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry; son, Paul Eric; grandson, Adam Charles Kazery and siblings Hoye C. Hollingsworth, Chloteal H. Morehead, Thelma H. Judge, Floyd B. Hollingsworth, Harold C. Hollingsworth, F. Jacob Hollingsworth, Pauline H. Culpepper, Benjamin Gene Hollingsworth and Nina H. Moseley, all of whom she missed and loved dearly.
One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.
Psalm 27:4 KJV
He is the power and the glory. Amen.
