Evan Alton "Al" Shelby, age 81, was welcomed into Heaven on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. He was surrounded by his family.
A Celebration of Al’s Life will be Saturday April 30, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Jackson, Mississippi in the Chapel at 11:00 am with visitation starting at 9:00 am. Burial will follow in Fannin Methodist Cemetery in Brandon.
Al was born October 15, 1940, to Herman and Bonnie Bell Shelby in Newton, MS. He graduated from East Central Community College. He married the love of his life, Charlotte Williamson Shelby on August 10, 1974. He was National Salesman of the year for Kimberly Clark in 1984. He owned and operated Shelby Printing Services from 1996 until his retirement in 2021. He loved spending time with his family, in his beautiful yard and being promoted to Pop Pop by his only granddaughter Shelby McDow. He was a lifelong Mississippi State fan. Unofficial Mayor of Fannin. Active member of the ROMEO club. (Retired Old Men Eating Out) Which was named by Al. Avid lawn maintenance enthusiast and loved flowers and our horses. Deacon at First Baptist Church of Jackson. Preceded in death by parents Odis Herman and Bonnie Bell Shelby, sister Bonnie Harris, and brother Charles Shelby.
Survived by his wife of 47 years, Charlotte Shelby, daughter Britney McDow (husband Michael McDow), son Blake Shelby (wife Katie Shelby) and Granddaughter Shelby McDow, Brother-in-law Jesse Harris, Sister-in-law Bonava Shelby, and the best friends a man could ask for. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the ministry of your choice. “If a task is once begun, never leave it til it’s done. Be the labor great or small, do it well or not at all.” - Shelby family motto.
